MMD – Thank-you, I agree it is the depth of colour that I love too. Hey yes… my anemones are really early and I have more blooms on my plant than I have ever had too. Yes, I had a re-bloom for one hellebore but the other was a young plant that has given its very first flowers (two now) completely out of season. What is going on?? I must get photos. Wildlife Gardener – Thank-you yes it has been quite busy here to say the least. I am glad you enjoyed your catch-up. Sorry, no I haven’t seen many butterflies this year in my garden either. They have started to visit on sunny days. My butterfly photos were taken at our holiday cottage in Norfolk during a very warm week. Ah… but once the come to your garden I am sure you will see so many having your nectar bar and so many wild flowers too! Oh yes… the hedgie videos are a treat for me too. I spotted one last night during my pond watch perhaps you might be interested in joining me with a post? You are definitely the font of wisdom when it comes to wildlife ponds :-D I must pop by soon to see how they are doing. Have a good week :-D

Barbara – Thank-you? Great to hear your black grass is doing well. I always think of you when I move and plant mine :-D Yes, it is always nice to come across gardens with the same plants and there’s you in Switzerland! Yes, I hear of many people loosing Japanese Anemones without reason. I do know that they don’t like to be disturbed. I have had this problem too. It has only been in the last few years I have found a way that they have not only grown but I have managed to spread them around my garden too. You can see what I do in my latest post. It works for me. I leave the plants in pots until the next Spring (or longer) and then plant them out in the garden. It may be worth a try? Have a good week :-D

A very interesting post, Shirl! And I saw some plants we have in common. My black grass from Scotland is doing well, but its flowers have already faded weeks ago. I'm not very successful with my white anemones japonica, they disappear a short time after planting (reason unknown), but the pink sorts are almost invasive. Never mind, I like their flowers, especially at this time of the year. My dark colour plants are mostly heucheras which are doing quite well.

The last time I visited and made a comment on your blog, Shirl, you had just come back from your holidays...and what a busy girl you have been since then :)

I have enjoyed reading through the posts I missed. Your plants and flowers are amazing both for foliage and colour. I love your chocolate cosmos :)

You have had lots of beautiful butterflies too. Ours have suffered this year because of all the rain this past month...but I'm still hopeful :)

I love the colors of your garden. There's just something special about those deep burgundy tones which add such depth. I wonder what's up with the Anemones blooming so early this year for you. They always say "autumn" to me, even though they start blooming in August around here (usually). I'm glad you caught your reblooming Hellebore in time for your Bloom Day post. I wish I had found mine in time too.

Perennial Garden Lover – Thank-you! I see you have had a good rainfall for yours – we could loan you our rain clouds for a week quite easily;-) Ah yes alliums are great aren’t they although I have to say I’m loving the new dark tulips now too :-D

Yolanda – Thank-you! Oh… the cleaning up after the hedge trim - the piles of it!!! Ah.. yes my primula is looking happy so that makes me happy too :-D Yes, with each month going by we do seem to discover more plants in common. I forgot you had a girnormous hedge too! Thanks for the warning on the choc cosmos. I’ll lift it as you suggest. It is fun to compare our plants :-D

What a great contribution to GBBD Shirl! Don't remind me, we still have to cut our hedge, miles of it! Oh nooooooooo!

In my garden the bees are nuts about the borage too, the white one in particular.

It's great to read that your primula is doing so very well. She seems to like it in your garden.:-)

About the choc cosmos: best lift it and put it somewhere frost proof over winter. I do that too because it doesn't even survive the mild winters in my country let alone the more harsh ones in your.

It's fun to see that we have many plants (and even a girnormous hedge ) in common!
