Spring brings…

…daisies, dandelion seeds and clover. It also heralds the start of the flower shows. Chelsea Flower Show is world renowned however it is not the first of the RHS Flower Shows here in the UK. Last weekend the very popular Malvern Spring Gardening Show was enjoyed by many. I saw this show via a BBC television programme for Gardeners’ World and thought you might like to see it too.

This broadcast can be seen on BBC iplayer and is available for another 4 days. The file size is 600MB to download if you are interested in watching this programme. I thought this may be of particular interest to visitors outside the UK. This is also how I intend sharing the coverage of the Chelsea Flower Show. You will be able to see it as I see it this year – unless of course you plan on visiting it and if so have a great time! However, coming back to Malvern I do know a man who did visit this show!

Border Reiver has recently started a garden blog, Dancing Jack in the Green, but he probably known more for his wildlife blog Quicksilverbirds blog. I am looking forward to sharing in other garden visits he makes throughout the year. For all those interested in hedgehogs they visit his garden too. I have added his Garden Blog to my links on the sidebar so you can keep up with his garden and visits too. You can see his visit to Malvern here and can enlarge his photos as I did. My favourite was photo number 12 – just my sort of planting. Thanks, Border for sharing your visit with us all. I am certain I won’t be the only one interested in future postings on your new garden blog – good luck with it and happy gardening!

The photo above was taken on a riverside walk along the River Tay yesterday.

  1. Hi again Nancy and Garden Girl 🙂

Nancy – Yes, they do have a sort of magical quality don’t they? Thanks, I took the shot but had no plan to use it until I started this post. It was a complete contrast to the image of a flower show so I thought it would be fun to use it 😀

Garden Girl – I am very interested to hear if the iplayer links are popular with my visitors outside the UK. Ah… I am sure as you are just starting your own gardening business you will find inspiration in Border’s show garden photos. It really is fascinating to see what the designers come up with isn’t it? However, it is always the planting combos that I enjoy seeing – I will guess that you could be the same 😀

  2. I love garden shows. I’ve been working so much this week I hardly have time to sit down! I hope I’m able to make it to a few this week.

  3. I am so happy to see the links Shirl. I am having trouble reading my regulars right now. There is so much going on in and out of the garden.

  4. Shirl, You can only use the iPlayer if you are in the UK. See “about iPlayer” on the web site.

But bbc.co.uk usually show 360 degree ‘photos’ of each garden and this is worth looking at.

  5. Hi again Cinj, Lisa and Sylvia 😀

Cinj – I thought you might, I hope you haven’t been too tired to get to them! I am sure a garden show will lift you. Have a great weekend 😀

Lisa – I hoped you would. Border is a birder like you too. I completely understand the lack of time at the moment. I am having trouble keeping up with my own comments and posts to get visiting others! It is also exam time here for my daughters and with one about to leave school it really is a busy time. Have a great weekend 😀

Sylvia – Thanks for that, I’ll fix this post later. Yes, I did notice you could do tours from the gardens on the website. I’ll have to look into this further but time is not on my side at the moment. Everyone is the same at the moment I am quite sure. Have a great weekend 😀
